Windows 10 build 17661 bugs: Install errors, Windows Security issues, and Much More
Microsoft recently rolled out Windows 10 build 17661 to Fast Ring Insiders and Insiders who chose to Jump Ahead. This new build introduces a collection of new features which will be available on Redstone 5. The objective of the Windows Insider program is for user to test and code of their upcoming Windows 10 variant so as to detect any significant bugs.
The Redmond giant already published a list of known issues impacting the release, but as it happens with each new build, Insiders came across a lot of new bugs. We scoured Microsoft’s forums to identify the most common Windows 10 build 17661 issues recorded by Insiders and we’ll record them below.
Windows 10 build 17661 problems
1. Install fails
Many Insiders obtained error 0xc1900101 when they tried to set up the hottest Windows 10 build. Their computers quickly reverted all of the changes, and they’re now stuck on the previous build release.
I updated to Construct 17661 now and obtained error 0xc1900101 and reunite to 17134.
If you also encountered this problem, follow the instructions available from the troubleshooting manuals listed below:
2. The’Free Up Space Today’ button is inaccessible
In Preferences, Storage and click on Free Up Space Now used to populate with several things to choose from for cleanup Much like Disk Cleanup. Just nothing showing now. This is still happening in Build 17661 as it has been in the last couple Skippy Builds.
3. Windows Security doesn’t work
Microsoft also revamped the Windows Defender Security Center and named it Windows Security. It seems that this name change also brought along one minor problem — Windows Security is totally blank when users start it for the very first time. The good thing is that a few restarts usually fix the issue.
OK, it does kind of populate marginally, but nothing shows. A green test and then everything hangs, then closes. Don’t even have a title bar. Also can’t start from WU.
4. Copy doesn’t work on Edge
Using the copy function on Edge often neglects with this build. The components that consumers replicate do not go to the clipboard.
