We provided the iPad Pro a little bit of an extreme evaluation. Does setting up iPadOS make it any type of far better as a laptop computer substitute?

The "Speaking of.." intro to sponsorship is priceless! š
Hi guys
I remember using my blackberry as a mouse and keyboard with my blackberry playbook. It worked phenomenally. I did several school submissions like that.
Yaāknow, as a musician, Iād love to try using an iPad Pro for 1: taking photos of my music 2: performing using those photos and 3: writing/note taking during my lessons at UBC. In the past this has gone very badly for my colleagues.
Welp you canāt play Minecraft with keyboard and mouse so no ):
Apple needs to add something like Samsungās dex mode and trackpads on keyboards laptop style and pc games and a real mouse cursor not just a thing that acts as a touch
I think this video marked your laziest segue so far Linus. We expect more from you!
ipad is a replacment for a laptopmacbook, but not for a desktop pc.
2019 will be in the history books as "the year when Linus started liking apple"
Multiple youtubers, students, and content creators have replaced their laptops with iPad pros. Itās just you gotta accept the new ways of using an iPad as compared to as a laptop. Obviously a laptop comes with its huge advantages, like I miss the trackpad. But ever since I got an iPad and the brydge keyboard, Iāve been using it for typing up business reports, replying to emails and more importantly photo editing. Itās more fun to use and just gets things done easily. iPad OS is a great change and really makes the transition from laptop to iPad a lot easier and more compelling. Especially with the iPad pros insane processing and graphical power now, expect them to be doing a lot more in the near future.
This is still a tablet. Get a MacBook Air or Pro. Your arm will thank you for the better ergonomics.
Apple left the chat middle of the video.
When the intro is longer than the sponsorship shoutout.
Only need proper mouse support for Microsoft Office products!!
Chrome book killer
I'll stick with my surface pro 6 but this is really cool to see apple slowly coming into the field, love watching these type of videos
Until Mac OS is on an iPad. I wonāt be a customer. Great video.
Iām waiting for the day Apple will bring an OS for their tablets thatās finally a full OS with mouse support.
I need a laptop replacement but I donāt want a surface.
Iāll use my big and slow ass laptop until Apple gets it.
Fingers crossed for next year..
Ting sucks!
how come I cant screenshot with the ipad pro pencil 2 like they did in 6:03
At the end of the day the iPad is what it is because it uses a mobile software if it used something like mac os it would never have that feel. That is why apple limited the features of ipad os
I donāt care much for Apple products at all, but this channel is extremely bias against them.
Linus Sandals as decoration are priceless.
Apple is lowkey calling mouse users disabled.
What case are they using in this video? I like the detachable keyboard
Wow, its so refreshing to see an iPad non-biased opinion from you guys. Awesome. I use my iPad Pro 12,9ā as my only computer. I work all the morning as a sales coordinator and I have to travel a lot while using multiple office apps, reminders and calendar. Then in the afternoon, I go university and I use it as my books and notebooks at the same time. Then I arrive home, and I play some Brawl Stars or watch netflix on bed.
This fits all my needs the best way possible. It is easier, faster and more convenient than any computer to do this specific kind of tasks. I see this device as a win for anyone with a job like mine or any university student. Students donāt need to carry around a bulky machine with a heavy operative system just to take notes, use office and do some research. But this is the first time I hear a youtube not saying āItās uncomfortable to do my job on this, so it sucks for everybodyā.
Nice job with this vid š
linus ad tips
Speaking of using…
Snorts a fat line of coke
theyre gonna advance the ipad so much it turns into macbook running mac oc with touch
Mice support has context menus and scroll support now
yeet
Why not just buy a MackBook Air, it runs what your iPad Pro canāt run. The iPad Pro was never meant to be a replacement for a full size Laptop. Ask Apple to turn an iPad into one.I Use an iMax 21ā 4 K Screen, something I can see and work on. I use an iPad Pro for my Mobile device. I accept the the fact the iPad cant run Mac iOS , when that becomes a problem I will dump it. Until then, I use it what it was designed for, Mobile Media Consumption and not a full blown Computer. Or ask Apple to change the iPads function. Since I started on Mainframe Computers. back in the early Eighties, Computers have come a long, From a Room Full of Computer to one I can hold in my Hand and use anywhere is a huge leap forward. Be gratefull l with what you got, or join Apple and change things.
I think for someone who has a powerful desktop at home and is a student, the iPad pro would be a great way to have portability and take notes. Then any time you need serious power or PC only functions, you would have it at home and can transfer over the notes or work easily.
Ive never used ipad as a laptop thus I'm not disappointed
what are those ugly sandals behind linus?
The IPad Pro is an incredible tool for study , Iām surprised every student at college/ University doesnāt have one who can ! It certainly does not replace a computer , but with that expensive pen , the IPad becomes a productivity power house , all my notes , things for study is all in one beautiful spot š I also live watching tutorials from my iPad whilst I work from my laptop for the heavy programs like Protools , BitWig and Ableton etc etc…
Been using iPad os 13 on the iPad Pro 3rd gen.Do I think that itās a laptop replacement? No. And Iām OK with that itās more of a laptop stand in And it works beautifully for that
NO. The iPad paradigm is wrong and a tabtop is the only good answer by far. The MS Surface Pro is almost PERFECT, and once it can support faster chips & eGPUs, I will have no place for a solo tablet, nor laptop. I CANNOT STAND having to take my iPad + Laptop everywhere I go. Both are crippled for portability w/ power. GIVE ME ALL IN ONE. If the iPad is powerful enough to do laptop-class work, it should offer laptop-class HCI choices, and leave it up to the USER. Sometimes I need to draw. Sometimes I need to model, edit, render. MAKE IT HAPPEN, APPLE!!!
I remember linux saying that origin pc is crap a few years back…lol
Im not satisfied at all. I really wish they made a laptop like keyboard for the ipad and mouse support
The iPad is not a computer according to App$e…. but itās now a computer because it has a mouse? Nope… itās a computer when I can run a FULL version of office and use macros…
I don't have a thick skull….maybe you do….. APPLE BASHER! 4:07 – https://youtu.be/vUB_EwNuSPY?t=248
Sigh, the years long argument for iPads to be computers. IMO iPad absolutely should have external file storage and a few other āregularā computers features whether it is a ālaptop replacementā or not, and for some people if they have a desktop this can replace their laptop if it is for basic computer stuff. Two ideas for Apple to bridge this gap is: as he said finally adding touch screens to MacBooks; or selling the MacBook ācomputerā separately and designing the iPad to attach to it as the monitor, then you can have both an iPad and a more powerful laptop
It may have some limitations compared to Windows but iPadOS has honestly convinced me I don't need a traditional laptop anymore. If all I do is consume media, post on social media, play occasional mobile games and use it for text messaging/facetime I don't need a Laptop .
Linus, thank you for the information video! I enjoyed the breakdown, and exploration of each point with regards to the iPad Pro running iPadOS.
As an iPad Pro user, running iPadOS beta, I enjoy the creative environment the iPad offers, and I think your final opinion of the iPad is spot on!
Regarding mouse support, I have been using the Swiftpoint GT ergonomic mouse, and find it a great companion for use with iPadOS. With a convention mouse I find I have certain PC mouse expectations. With the design of the Swiftpoint ergonomic mouse, I find is lends it self better to Appleās possible mouse use intention. Fact is, with iPadOS I setup my desk up to use a monitor, keyboard, and the Swiftpoint mouse for certain productivity, while I use the tablet only mode for other types of productivity.
If you happen to have or can get your hands on the Swiftpoint GT ergonomic mouse, give a test drive, and see what you think. Like the Apple Pencil verse a stylus, the type, or design of the mouse may have a greater impact on the intended use?
So… now iPad does the things that all other devices have been doing for 8 years…
