As a PC and Mac guy. I just have to say the feeling you get when your really awesome gaming laptop after 2 years is now outdated and starts breaking down is super shitty. Plus resale is embarrassing.

Old MacBooks should not be recommended for iOS development because there is no more software support for it and you need the latest version of macos to develop the latest version of iOS which is required for the app store.
