This is the full review of the Dell XPS 15 7590!
See my review (article):
These are the things I didn’t add in this video.
1. The fingerprint scanner is super fast.
Reads the fingerprint and logs into to Windows within 1 second. Still slower than MacBook Pro’s one, which is less than 500ms.
2. The battery test
Tested the battery (on the Better Performance mode) by playing YouTube and it last for 4 hours and 20 minutes.
3. Be careful when opening the back lid
The screws are very mild and you might damage the screws.
See how I upgraded the RAM and SSD:
4. Make sure you select the GTX card in the NVidia Control panel.
5. The carbon-fiber finish on the inside get smudged easily and needs cleaning once in a while.
This laptop is a great candidate for any kind of content creation, and also some light gaming.
*Top 4 features*:
1. *The Screen*
4K OLED screen is the best screen I’ve ever witnessed on a laptop! Period!
The combination of The 9th Gen CPU with the GTX 1650 is top of the charts in laptop lines. When combined with more RAM and an SSD, it’s super fast.
Boot time: 30 seconds
Rendering time of this video: 8 minutes using Davinci Resolve
*Upgrade your Dell XPS 15 7590*:
Crucial CT16G4SFD8266 16GB
Samsung 970 EVO 2TB
3. *IO Ports*
This has a lot of IO ports, including:
2 full-size USB 3.1 ports
USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port (supports up to 4 displays)
Full-size HDMI 2.0 port
SD card slot
3.1 mm headphones/mic port
The keyboard is so far the best keyboard I tried on a laptop. It had a nice key-travel and very comfortable to type.
Things I don’t like:
They’re so bad! Lacks bass and distorts in higher volumes.
2. Heating and the fan
It’s super loud when I’m rendering a video. Then, it turns on randomly for 1-2 seconds and turns off again.
The trackpad is super good in terms of sensitivity and gestures, but it’s too small to make the best out of it. And also, because the laptop is thick, it’s hard to use the trackpad for a longer period of time.
I faced a lot of issues with drivers. First the NVidia drivers, but the issues were fixed when I update BIOS and GPU drivers.
I had to do a network reset to make the WiFi work again. I’m still facing issues with Bluetooth drivers and will post an update when I get to fix it.
NOTE: The issue with the Bluetooth drivers was fixed after disabling power saving on the Bluetooth Driver (in Device Management) and then updating the drivers.
It’s 720p and not up to the 2019 standards.
6. Battey life
Th4 4K screen takes up a lot of battery, but can’t do anything about it. But you can follow some Battery Saving tips to reduce the battery drain.
